Survey: Non-profit Organizations Not Yet Adopting New Technologies
This article discusses how non-profits are behind in adapting the latest technology. This information was based on a survey done by Zoomerang. The biggest reason why organizations aren’t using the latest technology is because of the cost. But obviously there are many free things they could be doing, such as twitter or other social networking sites. Even just by joining sites, they are at least getting their name out there. As far as creating a webpage or other costly technology improvement, perhaps the benefit would outweigh the cost? By using things like mobile donating, and QR codes, organizations open themselves up to the potential for so many more donations. Technology makes it easier for both the donor and the organization. According to the results, 40 percent of non-profits do not have a website and 68 percent do not use social media to help market or run their organization. Looking ahead, an additional 47 percent indicated they plan on using websites for marketing purposes and 27 percent plan on adding social media channels.
The findings also indicate that many non-profits still rely heavily on donations through traditional means, including mail (checks or forms), in-person collection points and events as the top methods at 68 percent, 47 percent and 47 percent respectively.
